The Memphis AFL-CIO Labor Council has endorsed Congressman Steve Cohen for re-election in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District.

“As working women and men in this city, we have an opportunity to re-elect someone who understands our needs. Congressman Cohen has repeatedly shown his support of labor by his voting record, and we must not let this opportunity to support his re-election campaign pass,” President Irvin Calliste wrote in a message to local union officers, business agents, and members.

“Volunteer help is needed to assure victory on August 2, 2012, as well as November 6, 2012,” he continued.

The AFL-CIO is the largest federation of trade unions in the United States, consisting of 56 national and international trade unions and representing over 11 million members.

Congressman Cohen has previously been endorsed by the AFL-CIO in 2010 and 2008.
