The Alliance for Retired Americans has issued its endorsement of Congressman Steve Cohen for re-election in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District.

“Your positions demonstrate a strong commitment to improve the quality of life for older Americans. Your leadership on issues such as preserving and protecting Social Security and Medicare from privatization and benefits cuts exhibits that commitment. In addition, our members can support your candidacy because of your belief in the need to provide more affordable health care for older Americans, as well as the need for stronger retirement and pension security, and quality long term care,” said the letter, cowritten by President Barbara Easterling, Secretary-Treasurer Ruben Burks, and Executive Director Edward F. Coyle.

The Alliance for Retired Americans, part of the AFL-CIO organization, represents more than four million retirees nationwide, including over 61,000 members in Tennessee.
