Congressman Steve Cohen at the Tennessee Democratic Party's Jackson Day Dinner
Congressman Steve Cohen spoke at the Tennessee Democratic Party's Jackson Day Dinner Saturday night, introducing the featured speaker, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO).
"Senator McCaskill has emerged as a leader in the Democratic Party," Congressman Cohen said. "She has proven to be a strong voice in fighting against the failed policies of George W. Bush. Because of her and others like her, we will one day be able to end the war in Iraq and turn around the slow economy that has hurt so many families here in Tennessee and across our nation."
Senator McCaskill is on the "short list" of possible vice presidents if Senator Barack Obama secures the nomination to run as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
Other speakers at the event included Governor Phil Bredesen, Tennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, and Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Gray Sasser.
